National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan announced on Tuesday evening that the upcoming sanctions would also target entities supporting the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps and Iran's Defense Ministry.

"In response to Iran's recent air strike against Israel, President Biden is actively coordinating with our allies, including the G7, as well as bipartisan leaders in Congress, to craft a comprehensive response," Sullivan stated.

It is expected that US allies and partners will soon follow suit with their own set of sanctions, according to Sullivan.

Sullivan emphasized that the White House, in collaboration with the Department of Defense and US Central Command, is working to enhance air and missile defense systems and early warning capabilities across the Middle East. This strategic move aims to undermine the effectiveness of Iran's missile and UAV (Unmanned Aerial Vehicle) capabilities.

"These new sanctions and complementary measures will maintain a consistent pressure on Iran, effectively limiting its military capacity and effectiveness," Sullivan affirmed.

Over the past three years, the US has imposed sanctions on more than 600 individuals and entities associated with terrorism and terrorist financing for proxy groups such as Hamas, Hezbollah, the Houthis, and Kataib Hezbollah, Sullivan revealed.

"We are committed to sustaining this pressure. We will not hesitate to take further action, in coordination with our global allies and partners, as well as with Congress, to hold the Iranian government accountable for its disruptive and destabilizing actions," Sullivan concluded.
